A very useful graphic of religions around the world in PDF format is available at the National Post web site.

It gives a breakdown of religious belief/unbelief around the world together with a world map showing degrees of religiousity by country.

Olympic thought!

With the Olympics due to begin in just over a month, it is worth reflecting on Paul's words:

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

New International Version (NIV)

The Need for Self-Discipline

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?   Run  in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.  Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly;   I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.  No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Wise Words

"When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, 'Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!' "

Martin Luther King (1929-1968).
