HOLY WEEK AND EASTER AT SAINT KENTIGERN'S PARISH 2008 A.D.
EASTER MESSAGE FROM THE PARISH PRIEST
My Dear People,
This week is the holiest in the year. By the end of it our Blessed Lord will have suffered his agony in the garden, have fed the apostles with his own body and blood in the first Mass and washed the disciple's feet. He will have been betrayed by Judas, abandoned even by Peter and taken by sinners to be falsely accused and put on trial. He would be flogged almost to death and mocked and crowned with thorns. He finally would be crucified and for three hours hang upon the cross. One of the Seven words of His from the Cross would "Father, forgive them: they know not what they do."
All of this was for you and me. We were considered to "worth the price". That is why our Christian faith has at its very heart the mystery of God Suffering and dying and rising for love of us and for our salvation. Our Lord's blood was shed "for the forgiveness of sins". This indeed is the price and we are so loved by God. Now we are given the reprieve from eternal death and we must not loose with by serious sin. Let us be faithful in following Christ in the joys and sorrows of our lives. His grace is enough and we will experience the power of the resurrection. We will live forever with Christ in heaven.
A Blessed and Holy Easter to you all!
Fathers Tom Connolly and John Flynn.
