SOLEMNITY OF CHRIST THE UNIVERSAL KING. + 20th NOVEMBER 2011.
MESSAGE FROM THE PARISH PRIEST
My Dear People,
The feast of Christ the King brings in the end of the Ecclesiastical Year which goes from the First Sunday of Advent, next week to the Solemnity of Christ the King each year. The Liturgical Cycle as it is called, takes us through our Blessed Lord's foretelling - his arrival, his birth, the Magi, the Shepherds etc through to his youth and the Divine Teachings of the Master – his suffering, miracles, persecution – passion, death and Resurrection - Ascension and OUR Lord's sending of the Paraclete. By the end of the year - today - we are looking forward to the End Time when Christ will come from the heavens, clothed in power and great glory to judge us all – the living and the dead. His Kingdom will have no end. "Everyone will see Him." It will not be a hidden affair like the Incarnation in Bethlehem.
In-between all these events in our Lord’s life we celebrate the saints lives, in Our Lady’s Assumption – he Immaculate Conception – the feasts of SS Peter and Paul etc. So, if we attend the Mass week in week out, each year we will have re-lived the great Redemptive mysteries of our Lord's life on earth to the point where he establishes his Church. We are the living members of that Church – Holy, Catholic and Apostolic.
It is National Youth Sunday too so we pay homage to our youth and tell them how much they are loved and respected and how much we look to them for the future.
This Feast was brought in in the 1920's to counteract the rise of dictatorships which demanded the adherence of the populace and wanted them to abandon the Christian Faith and indeed were determined to wipe it out - Think of the rise of the Fascist and the Communists – both atheistic and anti Christ. The Pope said recently that the next anti Christ will be an environmentalist! These people demanded you believe their falsehoods. They write their own Programme for mankind. Think of the attempt to make Marriage a legal reality amongst same sex couples. Think of the kids left unadopted because the poor couple do not fit into the P.C. world of the Social Work Department !
The Rulers will have a lot to answer for you know when Christ judges us as He will. They are bringing in "Regulations" now – which will make it impossible to hold Catholic or Christian beliefs about marriage and family life from the Christian standpoint. If a person/student feels that the speaker or the lesson is hostile to their orientation they can call the Police. I can see the day when we will - in our schools - be forced by law to teach marriage and civil partnerships as equal. It is very unlikely that our Catholic Children's Rescue Society (Caritas now) and the 8 others similar organisations in the Church in this country will survive the adoption rules which operate in the future within a Catholic ethos. They have lost in the Courts so far and it has cost them a small fortune in Legal fees. Imagine refusing good parents the chance to adopt because the Catholic Adoption can only recommend a child to go to married people (or single) Unless we agree to place Catholic children with same sex couples we will not get funding and be guilty of a crime. I tell you now – that by the time five years are up we will have priests in goal for teaching the Catholic and Christian Faith and its Morals. We need as a Church to "test" these things to see if we can get them on restriction of religious freedom. Trafford Council has forbidden the celebration of Christmas in its schools according to a parent I know in Flixton.
When Christ will come again he will judge. Our generation with its slaughter of the innocents and the terrible cruelty to babies who are tortured to death whilst the Civil authorities look on. They will have to answer before the pure truth of Christ. May the Lord have mercy upon them and upon us all. We live in difficult times don't we? What will be the eventual outcome? Our Lord will be triumphant – that we can be sure of. Christ is still the Universal King but as he said to Pilate "My kingdom is not of this world – if it was I would not be standing here in front of you." Remember that – Pilate's empire crumbled but Christ’s did not and it won't now. We belong to him and he is the Victor.
God Bless you all for Advent next Sunday.
