THIRTY SECOND SUNDAY C + 10th NOVEMBER 2013. MONTH OF THE HOLY SOULS. AND REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY. 40 HOURS DEVOTION.

MESSAGE FROM THE PARISH PRIEST.

My Dear People,

The Altar is wonderful to behold and folk have flocked to spend time in prayerful Adoration of our Lord present in the Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Thank you for the wonderful skills of the flower display and the gift of wax candles for the illumination of the Altar. Come to the final Benediction this Afternoon at 3.30pm. Our Lord will be well pleased with you all for your efforts and your dedication. What a pride I have in you as your Parish Priest and I know that Father O'Brien and Father George feel the same.

We are again getting into the real damp and dark autumn weather. These days when we pray for the Holy Souls seem to make us feel a bit sad too. End of Time, Praying for the dead, year coming to an end… etc.

A tiny piece in Wednesday's Paper tells of the story of two little boys starved, beaten and finally smothered by their mother with cops and social services watching!!! Why has this case not been on the front page?? We've got used to it maybe? We shade out eyes don't we and turn away from it for one can never "work out" evil - it is an insolvable absurdity beyond rational explanation. Thus it is because it is from the fallen Archangel Lucifer and his fellow fallen angels who are super intelligent and wander around looking for souls to devour. The "Spirit of Evil" the Church calls it in the Baptismal Ceremony and it prays that the child will be taken from the clutches of "the kingdom of Darkness into the Kingdom of Light". These words are actually used just before the child is baptised. So - there we have it. The Spirit of Evil is real and not a Hollywood Horror invention. Evil was never intended by the Living God hence it bears that deep strain of being unintelligible. For example one can never say "Ah - now I see and understand!" Such things are against the natural Order God has made with his creation.

Our Blessed Lord describes today in the holy Gospel the doctrine of the existence of the soul after death. He says that those who have been found worthy to enter into eternal life no longer marry or that kind of earthly existence because they have a new existence similar to the angels in heaven. He describes those who have gone before us in Faith as "Children of the Resurrection". Isn’t that a nice description of our loved ones who have died.

You see from our time dimension we look forward in Time to the Resurrection but who knows that in the Non-Time the resurrection of the Just may have already happened. God is not limited by time/space. So when we pray for the Holy Souls God has taken onto account all those prayers and Masses you have had offered for your loved ones who have died and releases them from the state we call Purgatory and has brought them to Heaven. Now - there is something to get your brain working as you read it!!

Many folk now believe in the false doctrine of re-incarnation - that you get re-cycled and come back a second time. This was called in the day of the early Church "The Transmigration of Souls" and was condemned as heretical. God makes each soul unique. There will be no other "ME" (just as well I can hear the wife say)...seriously though we are made by God and only have one chance to get through life with our souls ready at the conclusion to be received by our Loving Saviour who came to redeem us from Adam’s sin.

Sometimes people consult so called "mediums" who are supposed to raise the spirits of the Dead. This of course has been against the Law of God from the time of Moses. Such people (like the ones you get on the Blackpool sea front) are just frauds. However others are highly dangerous and do such things with the power of the Evil One and you must never ever consult such people because it puts your own soul in danger. It also will mangle your mind and cause terrible stress. It also demonstrates a lack of trust in our Lord who looks after all who have died and will look after our own most loved ones as well. You must trust in our Lord in these matters and leave the dead to His providential and loving hands.

On this note I bid you, God Bless,

Fr Tom Connolly.

Priest: Father, Christ prayed that we be forgiven through his Passion. As you accepted Him, accept His prayer for us all. We turn to the Eternal Father as our Lord has taught us to in all our needs and in our Lord's Name.

Reader: Father, heed the anguish who cry out to you with your Son and especially those who are suffering in Syria and the Middle East and especially our fellow Christians. Lord in your mercy. Hear our Prayer.

We thank you for calling us into the church: bless us with constant faith and make it a source of life to others. Lord in your mercy.

Bless Pope Francis as he convokes the Synod on the Family that the Christian people may hear the truth about God's will for the family, its purpose and divine calling. Lord in your mercy You Son know what it what it was like being excluded from his homeland, be mindful of those who must live far from family and country. Lord in your mercy.

To the dying man you said “Today you will be with me in Paradise: receive Marie Sullivan, Phyliss Walsh, John Spillane and Joseph Cravagon into the arms of your mercy AND we pray for those who have gone before us, signed with the sign of the Cross: may they rise with Christ in power when his voice resounds again throughout the Universe - "It is consummated".
