THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT + YEAR C + 13TH DECEMBER 2015. YEAR OF MERCY .
MESSAGE FROM THE PARISH PRIEST.
My Dear People,
"A feeling of expectancy had grown among the people" St Luke the Evangelist records in the Gospel today. They would wouldn't they because the "fullness of time" had arrived and God was visiting his people. The world would soon be measured for its time from the year of the Holy Birth of Christ in Bethlehem. Time would begin again for such an important intervention in humanity's history needed Time to begin again and all TIMES be measured as from The Year of the Lord.
If only our people had that expectancy. People now expect the worst or expect only on the level of the individual like a promotion in the job or winning the Lottery! One only has to have a life threatening illness to have one’s expectancy focus totally changed and all things put into perspective. The Mass says that "We await in joy the glorious coming of our Saviour". Oh how we must long for his coming. We must thirst for the reign of justice in our world. We must long for the poor and the deprived to be raised up and to be heeded. We must long for the unborn babes to be secure in their mother's womb. We must pray that we will not be overcome with the evil which threatens our way of life. We must certainly LONG for the right things. We must long for holiness of Life and blessed at the end with the Saints in Heaven.
The Carol Service of our school IN THE Church here, will be in two parts - Wednesday and Thursday- 15th and 16th at 7pm - all are welcome. It will be most uplifting with the Reflections and Mediation on theme of Christmas and the surrounding of our Blessed Lord’s Birth. The Nativity plays put on in the schools have been truly uplifting and the children so pure and simple in telling the Christmas Story in a genius way for young people with lots of very good songs and carols. God is calling each of us to be set on fire with the Divine Love. The Pope told the Austrian Bishops recently in Rome that we must move away from the Media's agenda for the Church on "morals" and begin to talk about God and his Love and the prayer and contemplation – spiritual freedom and growth… the Virtues, the Beatitudes. We must put forth Christ in all his beauty, who will "draw all to Himself". Hope springs eternal. Our Lord has promised and he will not let us down. We belong to Jesus whose reign will last forever and who will raise up even our mortal bodies to be like his in Glory. The babe in Bethlehem came to restore Mankind and we are part of Him who restores all things. Do not be deflected by the Media. It sets the agenda for you. Ignore it and concentrate on our Blessed Lord’s coming. Focus on the heart of Mary as she came near to the birth on the road for the Census of those days and Expecting. Focus on Joseph - Spouse most holy and the one who guarded the Holy Family. Be attentive to the babe as he reaches out to you with those little arms which thirty three years later would be stretched out on the cruel cross and remember who won in the battle.
Christmas is so near my dear People. Do take the CHRISTMAS CARD I have produced with my Message on it and all the times of the Masses, Confessions etc throughout the Christmas Festivities.
HOLY INFANT NOVENA - Next Sunday afternoon at St Kentigerns, we have the 4pm Benediction with the Holy Infant Christmas Novena (begins on 16th at 9.30 Mass and on Sat at 11.30 Mass.) Come and enjoy that 30 minutes of peace and calm with our Lord before his Birthday begins in earnest!

BIDDING PRAYWERS FOR 3RD OF ADVENT C
PRIEST. As we awaiting with long the coming for the great King and Shepherd let us turn to God in total trust in his merciful love towards humanity and seek his help in all our many needs.
Reader. For our world which longs for peace and redemption and yet stumbles ever more towards moral chaos – that God's Wisdom, made flesh in Jesus Christ will rescue us from this destructive path. Lord in your mercy.
For all who are at war and conflict in so many places and especially for our own fellow Christians faced with implacable opponents – for so many families driven out of their security by civil war. Lord in your mercy.
For our Credit Union – that its good work in small scale banking services may serve our community of Fallowfield well and prevent people being weighed down with debts they cannot bear. Lord in your mercy.
For the children this Christmas – that the Christ child may be with them and bless them and protect them from all who would harm them. Lord in your mercy.
For all our dear friends who are unable to be with us at this Holy Mass through illness: Maureen Quinlan, Denis McLoughlin, Christine Booth, Michael Nolan, Mary Moran. Lord in your mercy.
We commend to God all those who have died recently: Jim McHolme, Baby Anthony McDonagh, Trever Luckcock, Kath Emerstoper, Mary Fenton AND for all those souls whose anniversary of death falls about this time: Manuela and John Robert Mould, (11am), Josie McDonnell, Afram Zaer.
May their souls and the souls of all the Faithful Departed, though the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
O Mary – you are the mother of all Christians – come to our aid in preparing as you did for the birth of the Only Begotten and Eternal Son of the Most High. HAIL HOLY QUEEN, MOTHER OF MERCY, HAIL OUR LIFE OUR SWEETNESS AND OUR HOPE.
Priest: All powerful Father, guide us with your love as we await the among of your Son. Keep us faithful that we may be helped through life and brought to salvation. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
