squares Immaculate Conception, The

The Roman Catholic Dogma that the Virgin Mary was conceived without any taint of 'Original Sin'. The Dogma was proclaimed in 1854 by Pope Pius IX and is marked on 8th December as being one of the Holy Days of Obligation.

squares Imprimatur

Latin: 'Let it be printed'. A word signifying that a book or other publication has been approved by the relevant church authority. In Catholicism, it is often combined with the nihil obstat  to indicate compliance.

squares Indult

A permission or right granted by the Roman Catholic church as an exception to usual church practice. An example is the use of the Latin Mass instead of the normal "Novus Ordo Missae".
